Harry Potter-Inspired 'Grin' Coin Backed By WimbleNimble

A new cryptocurrency, Grin, offers anonymity with respect to individuals involved in its transactions. So reports the MIT Technology Review.

The technology driving the new currency is the Harry-Potter-inspired MimbleWimble, which was originated by a chat room user named after the book’s infamous villain, Tom Elvis Jedusor. In contrast to an older currency, the coin would “hide the identifying information associated with Bitcoin transactions,” according to the article. Critics of the new currency are concerned there is no cap on how many units can be mined.
