In one proposed iteration of a bill making it illegal to deal in crypto, individuals could face up to 10 years in prison. India’s Supreme Court has already struck down one version of a law meant to prohibit the use of cryptocurrency and any new law passed will have to show the activity is “detrimental to the public interest” in order to survive judicial scrutiny.
