GoDaddy Staff Unwittingly Aided Crypto Attackers in Social Engineering Scam

GoDaddy employees were duped into facilitating attacks on “multiple cryptocurrency exchanges through social engineering and phishing.” So reports ZDNet.

GoDaddyAs such, the staff members were caught up in a scam leading them to change “email and registration records” that helped make the attacks possible. One of the sites impacted, Liquid, was victimized when the attacker gained access to user information after getting GoDaddy employees to “incorrectly [transfer] control of an account related to the firm's core domain names,” according to the article. The attacks were quickly thwarted and client funds from both Liquid and NiceHash appear safe.
