Firms Lobbying Around Fintech Totals $42M in Q1: Report

Lobbying disclosures show advocacy groups and other companies focused on fintech spent $42 million in the first quarter of 2019. So reports Roll Call.

Blockchain and cryptocurrency taxation were among some of the items firms were concerned about. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent $16.4 million in lobbying costs, although not all of that was dedicated to fintech-related items. A bill from Rep. Warren Davidson that would “exempt digital tokens from securities regulations” has also gained a lot of attention from the industry.
