Four African Cities Make Inaugural 'Global Fintech Index City Rankings'

African fintech startups are thriving, and four cities made it onto the first-ever “Global Fintech Index City Rankings.” So reports Quartz Africa.

Johannesburg, Cape Town, Nairobi and Lagos each made it to the “top 100 cities for fintech ecosystems.” Fintech startups in Africa are primarily focused on the continent’s undeveloped financial and banking industry, rather than disrupting traditional financial services. There were 238 cities ranked in the index.
