Ex-Coast Guard Security Specialist Wants to See if Blockchain Can Secure Elections

Hala Ayala, of the Virginia House of Delegates, is hoping blockchain can improve elections and commerce, and to that end is offering two bills in the House aimed at studying its viability. So reports Coindesk.

ballot 1294935 1280One of the bills would call for Virginia’s Department of Elections to investigate how blockchain can help facilitate secure elections and the second calls for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) to study how blockchain could improve the state’s economy. Ayala was an information security specialist in the Coast Guard for close to 20 years before taking a cybersecurity role in the Transportation Security Administration.
