OCC Grants National Trust Charter to Anchorage in Historic Move

Crypto custodian Anchorage secured “conditional approval” to receive a national trust charter, and as such, will become the first national “digital asset bank” in America. So reports Coindesk.

OCCThe approval came from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and it welcomed Anchorage into the federal banking system through the “same rigorous review and standards applied to all charter applications,” according to the article. “The safekeeping, management and trading of digital assets have been regulatory stumbling blocks for large financial institutions–but those obstacles are gradually being removed.”
