Utah Looks to Blockchain to Create Smartphone IDs with Same Legal Weight As Hard Docs

Utah will launch a pilot program to test blockchain technology as a means of issuing digital identity cards. So reports NFCW.

To that end, the state’s new Government Digital Verifiable Record Amendments bill will also require the Division of Technology Services to conduct the program and provide recommendations. Ultimately, the new cards could carry the same legal weight as physical documentation if the program is successful.
