Per investigators, the scam involved a “highly effective” call center using trained employees who took English proficiency exams and underwent polygraph tests who then posed as staffers at legitimate companies. The scheme was allegedly born from call centers in the Khmelnytskyi region of Ukraine and was directed at Ukrainians residing in Canada.
