CES2020 Highlights: The 'Human Experience' of AI

Artificial intelligence was among one of the key transformative technologies discussed at the CES 2020 conference, which brought together industry leaders, exhibitors and startups for a four-day long event in Las Vegas.

artificial intelligence 3382521 1920According to the organizers of the trade meeting, 4,400 exhibiting companies were ultimately featured at the event which began Tuesday, Jan.7 and ran through Friday, Jan. 10. The conference aimed to “redefine industries, create jobs and solve many of society’s challenges.” Other areas covered at the expansive and diverse exhibition were 5G technology, vehicle technology and digital health, as well as cryptocurrency and automated banking.

Presenters included:

  • Ivanka Trump, Senior Advisor to the President
  • H.S. Kim, Samsung Consumer Electronics President and CEO
  • Ola Källenius, chairman of the board of management of Daimler AG and head of Mercedes-Benz;
  • Steve Koenig and Lesley Rohrbaugh of the Consumer Technology Association

“The innovation on display this week at CES embodies the drive and passion that fuels our industry and furthers economic growth on a global scale,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association, in a statement. “The entire tech ecosystem is here at CES 2020, and the products and technologies launching this week will inspire, connect and change lives for the better.”

According to the Consumer Technology Association, which sponsor the event, streaming services, 5G connectivity and AI-enabled devices will account for a record $422 billion in the U.S. consumer tech industry this year—a nearly 4% jump compared to last year. At the same time, a recent Accenture report dealing with Fintech trends, AI, cashless payments and digital currency notes those very forces would likely cause the most substantial industry disruptions heading up to the year 2024, according to information from Aithority.

LG Electronics, along with Element AI of Montreal, presented “Levels of AI Experience: the Future of AI and the Human Experience” and discussed the future of artificial intelligence development, dealing specifically with what they call the four levels of the AI experience—Efficiency, Personalization, Reasoning and Exploration.

LG Electronics President and Chief Technology Officer I.P. Park spoke alongside Jean-François Gagné, co-founder and CEO of Element AI, about, among other things, the importance of structured framework in the development of AI in the industry. The duo also spoke about the industry’s responsibility as AI continues its evolution.

“As pioneers in the field of AI it is our responsibility to consider the importance of the Human Experience whilst pushing the boundaries of AI research and development,” said Gagné in a post by the AIT News Desk. “Together with LG Electronics we hope that this work helps to set forth standards and principles that guide AI practitioners to consider a human centric approach when building the future.”
